Here Comes the Sun (h/t to the Beatles)

A little touch of piffle for your day. Be gentle; I’m a novelist, not a poet, but here goes. 🙂

I’m soaking up the sun today,

Like parched ground

After too long a winter

And a cold, cold spring.

Bright sky, warm air at last,

Here to stay awhile,

Or so we hope;

That thing that springs eternal,

No matter what. We can’t help it;

We hopeful creatures, who tell stories when it’s dark

And cold

And the days are short,

And we’d rather not be sunk in gloom—so,

We remember what the sun was like,

And tell stories of spring,

And wait for them to be made real

One more time.
